Earning a degree in classics is a great way to get a general humanities education.  Employers want to hire imaginative and creative people who can understand and explain concepts and abstractions and who are good writers and close readers - just the skills students develop while studying classics.

A Master's degree serves as preparation for a doctorate in classics and related fields, such as ancient history and archaeology. In the previous decade, students with an M.A. in Classics from KU have gone on to pursue doctoral degrees in Classics and related fields at Brown, Bryn Mawr, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, NYU, Texas, Toronto, UCLA, UNC-Chapel Hill, Washington, Wisconsin, and Yale. Recent graduates have also gone on to successful careers teaching Latin, Greek, and related subjects at the secondary level.
